The 1994 Forest Park Wrestling team started their regular conditioning and practice just like every season before, unknown to them it would be their first and only Sectional Championship Title.  A surprise to them, going 18-4, as opposed to 13-6 last season, as a team was just one small thing in road to victory. Paul Steinmetz a junior for the rangers didn’t win a match until christmas. The 1994 Wrestling sectional was to be held as normal at Huntingburg Memorial Gym. For the final match of sectional all the lights in the gym were turned off and one light beamed down on the center matt this was the most memorable moments for Paul Steinmetz. Ryan Haas can still remember like it was yesterday, hearing the announcer saying Forest Park has won Sectionals over the loud-speaker for everyone to hear throughout Memorial Gym at Southridge High School. The ‘94 Sectional Winners were Brian Fleck, Nick Weyer, Mark Dilger, and Mike Sander.  Brian and Nick were also Regional winners and then went on to qualify for State.  Nick Weyer mentioned how state was his most memorable moment, when the National Anthem was being played before the start of all the matches, and he could feel chills all over his body.  If you would ask, many people would say they’d do things completely different.  Obviously  you have never asked that to Brian Haas, Paul Steinmetz, and Nick Weyer.  They would choose to wrestle for Forest Park again if they had the chance.
