Unstoppable

“After two years of losing to them, this is the icing on the cake. The best feeling in the world.” That was Cassie Dilger commenting on winning the sectional title. As you can tell by the chart they started out a little bit shaky, but they ended up turning it around at the right moment. Despite their shaky start Autumn Recker, Whitney Hulsman, and Madison Knies never thought they would actually lose. In fact Autumn Recker said "I never doubted the team." Even head coach, Amanda Sicard, tried to think positive in times of doubt. With that kind of attitude that were truly...unstoppable.

With their record at 9-10-1 (nine loses, ten wins, and one tie) it was a great season for these girls. In fact almost all of the girls said winning sectionals was the best moment of the season. While head coach, Amanda Sicard, said her favorite moment of the season was when Tabbi Steckler saved a bunch of unbelievable penalty kicks. Although all the the players did play their hardest some players did get some awards for their skills during sectionals. Those awards were Freshman Madisyn Hunt and Junior Madison Knies made All-Conference. Senior Rachel Lueken received Honorable Mention. Madison Knies also was awarded MVP honors while Junior Hailey Gehlhausen was named Most Improved. Senior Demi Jahn received Mental Attitude and senior Rachel Lueken got the Defense Award.

Not only did they have a great attitude, but everyone got along during the entire season. Even Autumn Recker said "The team was awesome. We had little drama and we all got along like a family." Madison Knies commented on this saying "It was a little patchy, but we played well on the field." Even their head coach said there was not a time when she was angry with her players.

The Rangers did not have it easy in their journey. Their first seectional game was against the always powerful Herritage Hills. The game went into penalty kicks. The Rangers came out on top with the help of goalie Tabi Steckler. She was outstanding during the penlty kicks. Before this game, the Rangers had been eliminated by the Patriots two years in a row.

The semi-finals was played against Salem. The Rangers scored first, and they never looked back. They won 6-0, and were on their way to the finals.

The Rangers faced North Harrison. During the regular season, the Rangers lost, but it was a close game throughout. Before the game even started, you could tell this game was going to be different. The score was also different. After the buzzer rang, the Rangers had won. The final score was 2-0.

They practiced hard and it showed. In fact Senior Cheyenne Bolden would recite a quote from Muhammad Ali before each game: "I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life a champion." Their skills and great attitude led to a sectional title, in which, was only the second time in Forest Park history...
